Country Crockpot Hash

It's no secret I'm a huge fan of 'dump crockpot meals'. Seriously, if every dinner in my world could be a dump crockpot meal, I would be soooo happy. Every time I put on a crockpot meal regardless if it's a 'dump meal' or not, when dinner rolls around I just want to give myself a big hug, lol; because it's almost like I didn't even cook ~ even though I did.

Country Crockpot Hash is one of my favorite 'dump crockpot meals'. It's super easy to make and healthy, which is a double bonus in my world. I despise complicated meals with tons of ingredients. If a recipes has more than seven ingredients and requires more than two dishes, I'm scrolling to the next recipe. I don't have time for cleaning up huge messes and excessive, unnecessary step recipes. Which is why Country Crockpot Hash is a perfect meal for me and my people.

Country Crockpot Hash

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground meat, cooked (beef, turkey, or venison)
  • 6 medium potatoes, cut into large chunks
  • 1 medium head of cabbage cut into chunks
  • 2 cups water
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste
Directions

  • Mix all ingredients in a large crockpot
  • Set crockpot to high for 6 hours, stir occasionally
And it's as simple as that! I typically serve this meal with molasses bread or homemade rolls. But, of course it's filling and satisfying all on it's own. I realize this meal is simple and without pizzaz, but it works for us and our simple living life-style. Teaching my children to appreciate simple, healthy meals is important to me. Yes, sometimes they do complain, but they also know they eat what's put in front of them or they don't eat at all. That may sound cruel, but learning to be grateful for God's blessings is a valuable lesson all of us should be familiar with.

While every dinner I prepare isn't in the crockpot ~ we do have them quite often, especially in the summer months when my energy is needed elsewhere. Trust me y'all crockpot meals are your friend on a busy homestead. I highly encourage everyone to have a few crockpot dinner ingredients readily available to throw in the crockpot for those days when you know it's going to be overflowing with more important things than preparing time-consuming meals. Country Crockpot Hash is a super easy, affordable, and tasty meal to add to your list. 😊

With Love & Hope,
Jennifer
